Hello,

I am Michael

I am an event photographer based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the North East of England. Over my years behind the camera, I have developed and honed a distinct photographic style that focuses on capturing the energy, authenticity, and its story-telling capabilities with my imagery.

I started my photography journey many years ago when I ordered my first camera without any knowledge of how to use it. I decided to jump straight into the deep end and immediately, bypassing all of the automatic settings and going directly to the dreaded manual mode. My logic was simple; there’s no better way to learn than to take off the training wheels and rely entirely on your own intuition. Through plenty of trial, error, and persistence, I was beginning to produce images that were usable and I began to develop my own distinct style of photography that I use today.

Once I mastered the foundational skills, I wanted to push my boundaries even further. I began to outgrow the limitations of my entry-level gear, which led me to invest in a professional, high-performance camera setup. With the right tools finally matching my vision, I had everything I needed to create high-quality, impactful imagery without limitation.

It was during this period that I set off on a 2 year journey around the world. Photographing across more than 30 countries, I focused heavily on street photography. I constantly found myself in diverse, unpredictable environments that demanded total adaptability with consideration for different cultures. Sometimes I could shoot openly; other times, absolute discretion was required.

Shooting on the streets taught me that exceptional photography isn't just about technical settings. It’s about timing, anticipating moments before they unfold, and knowing exactly when to step into the open and when to blend into the background.

Event photography is a natural progression from street photography. All of those hard-earned skills I have developed over many years transfer perfectly to capturing live occasions. What I find truly rewarding is looking beyond the lens, positioning myself strategically, and using my distinct style to deliver versatile imagery that maximises the value of your event.
